THE "MUST DO'S"

1. ROW OUT TO THE CHURCH

An absolute must-do! Opt to take the traditional ‘Pletna’ boat across if you want a leisurely journey taking in the sights, with minimal effort. For those wanting a bit more freedom (and toned arms!), hire your own wooden row-boat and row yourself out to the Church! We of course went for this option.

Tip: During peak times, you may have to bob around for a few minutes while you wait for an available boat 'mooring' space.

Tip: If you stay at Carman Guest House, you can rent the row boats opposite the road for as long as you want. Otherwise, there is a few hour time limit. Worth keeping in mind!

PLETNA BOATS

2. TAKE A CABLE CAR TO STRAZA BLED VIEWPOINT

For the best views in town coupled with a bit of adrenaline, Straža Bled is a must! Hitch a ride on the scenic (yet slightly nerve-wracking) ski lift to the top. Reaching the top, take a picture within the framed panoramic view of Lake Bled / Bled Castle.

Walk right from the ski lift to the woodland trail. I believe it is a full wooded loop, however after 5/10 minutes walk you will reach a beautiful viewpoint - Sunset View Bled. Spend your time wandering. Take the ski lift back down, or opt for a thrilling toboggan ride in the Summer months!

Tip: If you want to toboggan, make sure you first buy the correct ticket at the bottom. The ticket price is slightly higher.

UP WE GO!

3. COMPLETE A FULL LAP OF THE LAKE

Reserve a few hours of your day to walk the full length of the lake. Not only do you get to witness the church from all different angles, the scenery you pass is beautiful. You will stroll past an adventure camp, a man-made grass beach, Olympic plaques, the cutest houses and will eventually hit Bled town through the cute markets.

Tip: It does only take a few hours, we opted to walk to save dollar and to leisurely take it all in, but there is the option to rent cycles at numerous points around the lake.

4. TAKE A DIP IN THE LAKE

This one is definitely a seasonal option! If visiting in the Summer and catch a glorious day, you will catch local families setting up camp and picnics along the grassy verges of the Lake. The shallows are so clear and blue, you can’t help but jump in and have a paddle to cool off!

Tip: If it's hot when you visit, make sure you bring swimwear! There'd be nothing worse than enviously watching everyone cooling off in the lake!

5. WANDER THE MARKETS & SHOPS

Reserve a few hours of your day to walk the full length of the lake. Not only do you get to witness the church from all different angles, the scenery you pass is beautiful. You will stroll past an adventure camp, a man-made grass beach, Olympic plaques, the

Tip: Make sure you visit Pletna Ethno Gallery Shop, a tiny souvenir shop with the most quaint traditional handicrafts, from wood carvings, pottery and oil paintings on canvas. The perfect stop to find an authentic Slovenia keepsake. If staying at Carman Guest House, it is right next to it. Just come out and take a right, you'll reach it in a few minutes.

5. CLIMB UP TO BLED CASTLE

You’ve done arm day rowing the boat to the Church. It’s now time for leg day! We made our way up on foot via a VERY zig-zaggy stone-stepped path. It was a little muddy in

THE STEPS UP ARE JUST TO THE LEFT OF HERE

8. SOAK UP THE SOCIAL SCENE

When you reach the East side of the lake, there are a collection of shops. Trgovski Center Bled - Food court, good prices. We ate in Pizzeria Gallus upstairs. Very tasty and a nice, cosy atmosphere. Plenty of cute bars around too to stop and have a drink

Tip: If you are visiting in the Summer months and expect it to be hot, make sure you bring swimwear! There'd be nothing worse than enviously watching everyone cooling off in the lake!

7. TAKE A DAY TRIP TO LJUBLANA!

The cleanest city. Quaint and colourful. Edgy art scene on the outside. Main city is surrounded by a moat, get across via numerous glass brides. Love locks. Internal edges are full of independent shops and cafes. Venture in further to reach the heart of Ljubljana - The large market place. Head up to Ljubljana castle for a large viewpoint of
